About Sibel Edmonds
Sibel Edmonds is a trailblazing editor of Boiling Frogs Post and the visionary founder of the National Security Whistleblowers Coalition. Recognized for her courage and commitment to transparency, she was honored with the 2006 PEN/Newman’s Own First Amendment Award. A prominent commentator, Ms. Edmonds has contributed her expertise on whistleblowers, national security, and government secrecy on major platforms like 60 Minutes, CNN, MSNBC, NPR, and has been profiled by leading publications including the New York Times, Washington Post, Vanity Fair, and The American Conservative.
Ms. Edmonds served as a language specialist with the FBI, where she exposed significant security breaches and cover-ups. Her disclosures led to retaliation, culminating in her dismissal. Efforts to seek justice were obstructed by the invocation of the State Secrets Privilege, and her case was further suppressed through retroactive classification by the Department of Justice, effectively silencing Congress from addressing or discussing it.
Her professional journey began in 1993 with the Rostropovich Foundation, a humanitarian organization dedicated to aiding children in the former Soviet Union. In her role as Project Director, she managed logistics, correspondence, and security for the largest children’s hospital in St. Petersburg, Russia. She later co-founded and directed Edmonds Industries, a consulting and investment firm focused on international business and real estate development. Additionally, Ms. Edmonds has volunteered extensively, including as a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) for abused children and as an instructor for the Alexandria Office on Women’s Domestic Violence Program.
Ms. Edmonds holds an MA in Public Policy and International Commerce from George Mason University and a BA in Criminal Justice and Psychology from George Washington University. Her qualifications include certifications as a Court Appointed Special Advocate and as an instructor for domestic violence programs. Fluent in English, Turkish, Farsi, and Azerbaijani, she is a multilingual advocate for justice and human rights.
